In Reply To SZR... Am I getting ripped off on ebay? posted by Stang Raper on March 20, 2007 at 11:58 PM

Message 1. Ebay warns its buyers and sellers not to use money transfers like western union for the fact that you cannot get your money back.

2. Since Paypal and Ebay merged, Ebay would recommend Paypal over any other form of payment.

3. Ebay does not participate in any transaction. They only aid either the seller or buyer should there be a complate....AFTER the transaction has been complete, not aid in it as a third party.

4. The seller most likey emailed you to YOUR EMAIL address, which i bet is listed in your user profile under your ebay id.
the way how ebay work in regards through communicating buyers and sellers is through ebay messages. if a seller (or buyer) need to contact the buyer (seller) for the item, he/ she would click on contact member. then ebay would forward a copy to you registered email which you have registered ebay with. if this seller emailed to you to your email address, he either got it from your profile, or you included your email address in a previous email you had with the seller. or, (how other scamers work) he/she put the aution as a "private listing" and "for approved bidders only" and this way the seller would need your info to put you on his/ hers "approved (scam) list".

my advise:

1. dont bid

2. keep in mind what was said and be aware on ebay and paypal

3. hide all your info on your ebay members profile, even your phone number. sometimes they can use that and say that they are ebay admin and scam you too.

4. do ALL your ebay (buying/ selling) communications through ebay messages, and NOT through your OWN EMAIL. if you dont know, ebay.com>myebay>log on>on the left side of screen, my messages.

5. if it seem to good to be true, pass it, regardless of feedback or "square trade member".

6. EVERYTIME you log in to ebay make sure its HTTPS:// and not [ http://, ] S = secure

hope this helps :)
